Unfortunately I don’t get a cookie message on my site after installing your plugin.

My theme is twenty sixteen and I’ve checked: it uses wp_head() and wp_footer() functions in the php-files.

    My website is: http://www.metdebenenwagen.nl

Very strange, especially that you’re using default theme.
Are you sure it’s not a modified theme?
Do you use any caching plugin?

The only thing I have modified is colors, background and those kinds of things. And the head and footer functions are in the php-files.

As far I I know do not use a caching plugin: I use only Akismet Anti-Spam, Contact Form 7, Jetpack, Yoast SEO and Cookie Notice…

Honestly, for me it looks like you you don’t include the footer.php file in your theme files.
So even though the function is there, id doesn’t run.

Or maybe there’s a different scenario, but definitelly somethings wrong with the footer part of the theme.

    Why I say so?

Your HTML content does not include closing BODY and HTML tags. HTML document just ends right after the content part.

Think you’re right about something is wrong within this theme. Just for testing, I switched to the twenty seventeen theme and then I immediately got the cookie notice.

However I would like to keep using the twenty sixteen theme, but I haven’t got a clue where I have to change things.

    It works!

First, I copied the footer text of the 2016 theme to a file called “Footer1” (just to have a working file in case my action wouldn’t work).

Then I copied the footer text of the 2017 theme to the original footer file of the 2016 theme.

    Thanks for helping!
