    Hi,
    I’m a newbie with this all so forgive me if there’s something blatantly obvious I’m missing….
    I’ve set up an event, the link works fine and goes through to a new page with a map, however the map box is there but no map. I tried entering town, I’ve tried postcode, neither work. Any suggestions?

    Chrissie, you must setup the location details for the event location.

    If you create or edit location in the admin, Events Maker tries to localize given place on the map right after you enter address, city, country, zip code, anything.

    Can you confirm that you have the details set for this location?

    My first look at this and so far, lots of wonderfulness.

    I am seeing this behavior as well. em.1.1.4

    I’m not quite sure what you mean here:

    If you create or edit location in the admin, Events Maker tries to localize given place on the map right after you enter address, city, country, zip code, anything.

    I am editing the location fields at: <domain> /wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=event-location&post_type=event

    This is on a local dev server so I can’t show you this, but if you contact me privately, I can reproduce this on an online server if necessary.

    I don’t think it’s a bug, because there are some situations this may happen.

    First: if you didn’t provide valid location details – you should see it right away in the plugin admin, when you set or edit the location.
    Second: if you have JS errors on the site, caoused by other plugins or theme.

    Each case might be different.

    I respect your take on this. Writing plugins is not always easy.

    I will share, that I have installed this using a clean “vanilla” instance, (no other plugins), of WP 3.9.1 I have also tested what I am seeing in the plugin against the same address data in Google maps, and have seen differing results.

    In all fairness, I have seen errors in Google Maps for addresses entered directly as well. We are located in Japan, but again, I have seen a direct difference using the plugin’s geolocation and direct into Google maps.

    This is why I voted for an option to not use Google Maps in another thread, as many (actually I think all I have tested), other event plugins provide an option to do. In some areas of the world, this tech is not as accurate as others.

    Thanks jmcbade. I really appreciate you suggestions.

    The feature/issue we’re talking about right above has already been included in the to-do list for EM. We’ll try to propose an option/solution for this with the next update of the plugin.

    Thank you for considering my take on this issue.

    No pressure, and I would not hold you to this answer with “but you said”, but do you have a timeframe for the release to include this? Days, Weeks or months?

    Weeks I think. We’re working on a different large project now and just can’t jump into EM for some time.

    But when we do this feature will be available.
